Edessa at the Medellin International Poetry Festival for Peace in Colombia 2003
The silence, the peaceful roll of terrain, the smiling faces are deceptive. There seem to be no indications of the war that rages in this South American jewel between the mountains and the Pacific. There seem to be no stories of bloodshed and senseless loss of lives. And yet, Colombia has been torn by war and violence for decades now. We poets came together to plead for sanity, negotiations and peace.
